I spent a great part of my youth thinking and according to most people I’ve been young for a while now. This book is just those thoughts written creatively in verse. So, it’s basically poetry. This is not the type of book I’d expect you to read in one sitting. It’s the kind of thing I’d expect you to buy on impulse or recommendation. It could be because you saw an excerpt that spoke to you or you’re like me in the sense that you believe literature can change the world.
This book should remind you of your younger days with a passion that makes you glad and sad that you survived them or are still living them. It should make you feel young and old at the same time. It’s the kind of thing you should pick up on a slow day then sigh after reading one page. It should be the kind of book you sometimes decide you are determined to finish but instead stare into space every few minutes. You’d carry it around because there are some pages you always want to go back and remember. You’d sit with it at odd hours and skip to random pages because your life is not making sense at that point, like there’s more to it and you want to jump to the future to make sure of it. You’d be reluctant to lend it because for some reason you’d want it close. You’d tell people about it but never with explanations valid enough to make them understand it.
There are some parts you may skip but still come back to because you’re making sure you didn’t miss out on anything. You’d experience this book in the middle of growth with life getting in the way while you came to terms with change. You’d read the book like this because that is how I wrote it.
